Washington state employment down, but economist encouraged

The Bureau of Labor Statistics recently unveiled a report that indicates many states added jobs in March.

The Regional and State Employment and Unemployment report showed that 34 states experienced decreases to their unemployment rate while seven states saw their rates increase.

The Spokesman Review reports that Washington was one of the states that saw its rate increase, moving to 10.5 percent from 10.4 percent in February.

Doug Tweedy, Spokane's regional labor economist, said that he believed the increase was due to more people looking for employment in March than in February. He said that this was an encouraging sign.

"When jobs start increasing, discouraged workers start looking for jobs again," Tweedy told the news source.

Even though the rate went up in Washington from February, the state added 32,900 jobs from March 2010 to March 2011.

As people return to work in greater numbers, they will want to make sure that they maintain a proper life balance by not only trying to improve their professional selves but their personal selves as well through practices such as yoga.
