Special class for Iranian Peace offered at Kirkland Dahn Yoga

On Thursday, June 18, Kirkland Dahn Yoga hosted a special class for Iranian peace. In the middle of violence and turmoil in Iran, Roxy, who is a member at Dahn Yoga and will take an instructor course, had an idea to spread peaceful energy for Iran through a class. The class was offered at 9pm and 5 people participated even with very short notice (the notice went out on the very same day)! The class was offered by Roxy in the typical Dahn Yoga class style with short prayers and meditation for Iran.  On Friday, June 19, there will be a candle light vigil at Red square, University of Washington campus for Iran.

It is easy to get discouraged in today’s world. There are many human problems that dominate our headlines and preoccupy our minds. It can seem like the world is getting increasingly worse. There is no doubt that we need to change our ways or risk serious consequences.  …  The most effective action you can take is to act on your own true nature, and soon others will do the same when they are rady. Go beyond the world of thought, put your true nature into action, and the rest of the world will follow. – from Brain Wave Vibration book by Ilchi Lee

sharing as a member and a part-time employee

As a Dahn member from November of 2004 to the present, I have a number of remarkable experiences.  I’ve regained ¾” of the height I lost through aging.  My vision improved from a 2.50 magnification to 1.25 strength.  My body is riddled with arthritis, yet I am strong and flexible enough to be a Dahn instructor, teaching 5 classes per week.

I have enormous respect for the Dahn masters and trainers.  As I gain physical and spiritual strength, I repeatedly set goals for myself.  My Dahn masters support me by helping me look at my plans, suggesting refinements to better get what I want. Each time I realize a goal, they help me move forward to explore new objectives.  As a result I live the life I always wanted.  I truly feel happy, physically fit, grateful, and joyful today.

Recently, I had a car accident and received a whiplash.  While I experienced some difficulty, my Doctor said I’d have been very seriously injured were I not in such great physical shape.  I thank Dahn for its gifts to me.

As a Dahn employee, I have a job of teaching classes and advertising our center.  As a part time employee, Dahn pays me all the wages I earn.  In addition they offered me medical insurance.  Since many employers exclude part time employees from medical insurance coverage, I believe Dahn is generous, going beyond the norm, in giving me these benfits.

Every experience with Dahn teachers, their trainings and programs is positive.   I am continually inspired by their dedication and sincere care for me and the other members.  They ensure I continue to grow in every aspect that is important to me.

Carol’s sharing, 2009

I have been a member of Dahn Yoga for five and one half years now.  I have seen many improvements in my body condition and a huge reduction in pain.  When I started my shoulder, back and knees were all painful.  The knees, however, had the pain spotlight.  I was limping and using the furniture for support.  Everything hurt.  Physical therapy only helped a little.  Acupuncture helped for a couple of days, then back to the pain.  I was a new member at the time and was invited to join a special class that met Mon. – Fri. early in the morning.  After the first week I was able to walk slowly without limping.  I knew then I would stick with Dahn Yoga.

Robyn’s sharing

My Dahn Yoga practice has changed my life for the better!  It all began 3 years ago, with a trip to my local Laundromat.  I had started a new job and was under extreme stress. I’d be so tired when I’d go home after work that I would just stare at the TV and eat before it was time to go to bed.  Somehow, I knew that life could and should be more than that.

So, one day when I went to do my laundry, I picked up a brochure advertising my local Dahn Yoga center.  I went in the next day for an “energy checkup.”  The news was not good.  I was told my posture was crooked, my balance was bad, and I needed help.  Well, I knew that.  The good news was that I was told it could all be corrected with the help of Dahn Yoga.  I signed up right away!

Here are some of the medical benefits I’ve received since I started practicing in June 2006:  I was taken off my medication for osteoporosis, my vision has improved remarkably to the point where I don’t need reading glasses most of the time, I have more energy, and I am eating more normally and maintaining my weight instead of steadily gaining.

The mental and spiritual benefits are numerous as well.  I am easier to get along with and am no longer a cranky old person.  Now, I’m a happy old person with lots of energy!

Thank you to all my masters, instructors, and fellow members, for saving me from a doomed life of stress, misery, and chaos.  I now lead a life of health, happiness, and peace, and have hope for the future.

Becky’s sharing

I started practicing Dahn Yoga and Brain Wave Vibration 18 months ago. I was very stiff and in constant physical pain. I was experiencing emotional challenges and depression related to repressed memories from childhood. Although I was seeing a therapist and being active, nothing helped until I attended my first Dahn Yoga classes. Almost immediately, my body began to open up in ways I had never experienced. I began to release long held emotions and memories. At first, I didn’t know what was happening and felt some fear and apprehension, but through the guidance of the Masters, Healing Sessions, and workshops like Shim Sung and healer’s school, I finally began to heal from the past and feel real joy. I have tried a variety of things such as counseling, breathwork, and spirituality/personal growth classes over the last twenty years, but nothing is as effective as the practices within Dahn Yoga and BWV. One intensive workshop regionally or in Sedona, combined with regular class, has been more beneficial than 15+ years of counseling, therapy, and other types of energy work. Dahn Yoga and BWV gave me my life back, and I’m blessed and so happy to be a part of it!

Jane’s sharing

I started the practice about 3 years ago. At the time I was physically weak and felt losing the sense of well-being with increasingly busy schedule. Just after the first class, I felt better immediately and found the power of these unique exercises. Especially these basic exercises, intestine exercise and body-tapping exercise for example, are very effective. With regular practice and under the guidance of adept instructors, I recovered very quickly. I not only gained my physical strength but also gained peace of mind and optimistic outlook of life. With long-term practice, I naturally adopted this healthy and positive way of living. I felt more confident and free to try new things out of my comfort zone. My life is much brighter and open to exciting new opportunities.

Kirkland Dahn Yoga member sharing

I have been in Dahn Yoga for two years. When I started I was not in very good physical shape and weighed more than I wanted to. I had survived cancer, a messy divorce, was a single mother – working, raising kids, going to night school, dealing with a lot, and trying to keep it all together. I was drawn to the calming exercise of yoga and I really enjoyed it. I loved meditation – I was so amazed by the energy I felt and the calm and relaxation after class. My body condition improved little by little. I learned to smile and look at the world in a more positive way. I started sharing what I learned with others and volunteered to teach a class at my workplace as a stress-reduced for my coworkers. Today my supervisor remarked on my sunny disposition and how I always manage to stay on top of things no matter how crazy the work gets – he said but you’ve just got that kind of disposition, don’t you? I said no, not always, yoga taught me to be calm and stay in control. In my head I was thinking of how depressed and irresistible I used to be a lot of the time and how much of the anger I have let go of through what I have learned at Dahn Yoga. I am a much happier person, I feel like more my real self, without all the “baggage” I used to carry around. – Lynn Riggs from Kirkland, WA
